Reminiscing
Series...
The
idea for this body of work was born after the trip I made with my friend
to the place of my origin - the Czech republic. We had visited my family
and also stayed in the bohemian city Prague where I had lived many years
ago.
While reminiscing I have been constantly reminded as to how things have
changed. The old architectural treasures are now being restored and new
buildings are being built.
In a way it stirred my soul with memories. Suddenly I had the desire to
communicate the passion for this world that seems now so different to
me.
My paintings are collages consisting mostly of monoprints and acrylic
xerox transfers for which I use photographs I have taken during my trip.
I use pumice gel, modelling paste and also bees wax for some areas to
achieve textural variety. I superimpose layers of prints and images until
I am completely satisfied.
